Twelve new fire stations will be built in Sarawak under the Tenth Malaysia Plan, said its director-general Datuk Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim.
He said their construction would be done in stages and based on priority.
“There are two types of stations. If we are to build just the station alone, the cost is about RM12 million each but the amount will be double if we include living quarters,”he told the media today after the department’s promotion exercise and awards conferment ceremony at the Sungai Merah station here.
At the ceremony, 28 personnel were promoted to higher ranks, nine were conferred the department’s excellant award “Pingat Cemerlang Bomba (PCB).
There are 26 fire stations in Sarawak at present.
