Intermittent and sometimes moderate rain occurred in several areas in the East Coast of peninsular Malaysia today and it was expected to continue until Thursday.
According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the areas affected are Pasir Puteh, Bachok, Kota Baharu, Pasir Mas and Tumpat in?Kelantan while in Terengganu the areas are Kuala Terengganu, Setiu and Besut.
The rain may cause floods to break out in low-lying areas and those near the?river banks.
The department also expected strong northeasterly winds with a speed of between 40 and 50 kilometers per hour and waves of up to 3.5 meters in the waters of Condore, Reef North and Layang-Layang beginning tomorrow until Sunday.
Similar conditions are also reported in the waters of Samui (Kelantan and?Terengganu), Tioman (East Johor and Pahang), Sarawak (Kuching, Mukah, Bintulu?and Miri), Sabah (Interior, West Coast and Kudat), Federal Territory of Labuan,?Reef South, Bunguran and Palawan.
The strong wind and bad sea conditions are dangerous for small boats.
