Call for stricter enforcement on residents causing a stink

KUALA LUMPUR – “Alam Flora workers clean the area six times in a week but the residents continue with their irresponsible habit everyday.” said Dato’ Haji Mohd Zain Hassan.

Netizens vent their anger on social media as pictures of the unhygienic ways that rubbish is being disposed by residents at Taman Tenaga Kuala Lumpur and Jalan Baba, Cheras Batu 2 1/2 has gone viral.

Besides being an eyesore, the sea of rubbish at the area which is also strewn all over the roof tops and awnings of the flats and overflowing rubbish bins and poses a serious health risk.

CEO of Alam Flora, Dato’ Haji Mohd Zain Hassan had made a surprise visit to the area that is inhibited by majority of foreigners from Myanmar and Bangladesh.

“Alam Flora workers clean the area six times in a week but the residents continue with their irresponsible habit everyday.” said Dato’ Haji Mohd Zain Hassan.

Stink and illegally dumped rubbish without regard for cleanliness has been a usual sight at the area. Other than food waste sometimes even heavy items such as television are thrown out the window endangering the safety of other residence.

Netizens has called for stricter penalties to be applied on offenders to encourage residents at the area to handle waste management responsibly and protect the cleanliness of the environment.
