KUALA LUMPUR – 21-year-old fashion student Evian Lee, studying for her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Fashion Design with Marketing at UCSI University, was one of top 3 finalists.

21year-old fashion student Evian Lee, studying for her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Fashion Design with Marketing at UCSI University, was one of top 3 finalists selected at the Miss CosmoWorld 2018 press launch and Malaysia final held at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 23 June 2018.

Miss CosmoWorld founder and organiser Carrie Lee said Evian Lee and two others selected, entrepreneur Michelle Yvonne, 23, and Bachelor of Laws student Chua Xing Er, 21, will represent Malaysia for the Miss CosmoWorld 2018 international pageant finals to be held in Kuala Lumpur on 20 October 2018.

“The Top 3 finalists will get on a plane and visit Japan with a photo shoot worth RM50,000 as their prize,” she said, adding that, “this year we are going to Japan and we are also targeting different places of interest around the globe such as the Seven Wonders of the World.”

Last year’s top three selectee won the prize for a Michelin Star-rated trip to London and Paris, and included a photo shooting experience.

Carrie Lee, the director of CL Skin Sdn Bhd which organised the home grown international beauty pageant she founded last year said the second edition of Miss CosmoWorld pageant would target 30 international participants from around the world.

“We welcome beautiful single ladies and who displays confidence, possess good personality, intelligence and are healthy with attractive appearance and good figure. All the winners of Miss CosmoWorld 2018 can expect a lavish prize package this year”, she said.

There will be grand prizes to be given away to all winners of Miss CosmoWorld 2018.

“We are targeting a total prize value of between RM500,000 to RM1 million, including RM50,000 cash (with effort to reach target of RM100,000), education scholarship, luxury trip, beauty treatment, car, condo and other lucrative prizes. Malaysia’s Evian Lee – Miss CosmoWorld 2018 finalist.

When Citizen Journalists Malaysia (CJMY) asked Evian Lee how she felt after learning about her selection as one of top 3, she said, “I feel beyond honoured and finally all of the hard work paid off. Last year I went into auditions and tried to the best of my ability. I was still new and unaware about many things and rules. Over the year, I have gained new insights and attended mental and physical training to get where I am today. I am really pleased to hear from the judges that I’ve improved a ton!”

“My first priority is to prepare myself mentally as best as I could for the Miss CosmoWorld competition. I still need to improve on my catwalk skills and posture. I am prepared to work hard and to give it everything I’ve got.

“Good things take time and if you follow what you need to do, be diligent and determined, you will get to where you belong to,” she said.

Born in Sungai Besar, Selangor, Lee now is in her second year of her 3-year Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Fashion Design with Marketing at UCSI University.

“Sungai Besar is a place full of sunshine and sea breeze. It is next to a popular tourist area called Sekinchan. My town is not well promoted, that’s why it’s not known among the people from the city. But we do have seafood and paddy fields too just like Sekinchan, albeit a little less touristy,” she said.

What interest her to study fashion?

“I discovered a huge interest in clothing from an early age and spent my pocket money on clothes. I am not just everything into designing, somehow I am passionate about modelling too. I guess no women would go around saying that they don’t like clothes. It is like women and Sephora, inseparable.”

Lee says she does workout three to four times a week and loves being outdoors and goes hiking weekly or biweekly.

Lee’s ambition, however, is to be a successful blogger and influencer, as she speaks up for women’s independence, empowerment, personality and behavioural influence and perspective on life.

The Selangorian also enjoys reading and experimenting makeup with different colours.

June Yap, the official life and pageant coach of Miss CosmoWorld 2018 and one of the panel of judges for the Miss CosmoWorld Malaysia finals commented that the Top 3 finalists were well deserving for all of their efforts.

“The Top 3 were selected (out of 13) as they were able to bring out their individual unique qualities of beauty with brains especially the way they portrayed their confidence, courage, charisma and charm,” she said.

Yap, the founder of Shine From Within and former Mrs Borneo World 2016 winner applauded the courage and efforts shown by each of the Malaysian contestants to learn and improve during their preparation for the Malaysia finals selection round.

“Confidence is nothing more than believing in yourself, and ‘believing in yourself’ is doing things you once never thought you could do!” added Yap.
