Beauty queens from 46 countries in KL for Miss Tourism Int’l 2018 pageant

PETALING JAYA – Apart from the Miss Tourism International main title, there will be four other titles to be won

Bringing the World to Malaysia: Beauty queens from 46 countries will be vying for the queen’s title of Miss Tourism International 2018 in the pageant final at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Petaling Jaya on 21st December 2018.

Beauty queens from 46 countries, including Malaysia will be vying for the Miss Tourism International 2018 title at the pageant final which will be held at Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa, Petaling Jaya on Dec 21.

D’Touch International managing director Tan Sri Danny Ooi announced this at a press conference on the launch of Miss Tourism International (MTI) 2018 World Final at the hotel here. 

Caenne Ng, a 21 year-old university student, is Malaysia’s representative to the world final.

The Malaysia’s homegrown pageant, organised by D’Touch International, has ‘Glitz and Glamour’ as its theme this year marking its 21st edition since the event was inaugurated in Kuching, Sarawak, in 1997.

“Miss Tourism International Pageant was mooted to channel tourism to create and foster new relationships among the delegates while nurturing a better and closer understanding of one another’s national cultures, customs and traditions.

“The pageant will be in alignment with the event’s objective of promoting tourism, culture and friendship while empowering the delegates to propagate these values in their respective countries,” said Ooi.

Ooi said the international delegates will be taking part in tourism-related and promotional activities to be held from Dec 7 to Dec 22, culminating in the crowning of the Miss Tourism International queen on the final night of competition.

He said the Miss Tourism International World Final is supported by the Ministry of Culture & Tourism and Tourism Malaysia since 1994.

Also present at the event was Tourism Malaysia chairman, Datuk Ahmad Shah Hussein Tambakau.

Since its inception, the pageant has been franchised to more than 100 countries. Former Miss TourismInternational winners have gone on to carve out glittering careers such as singers, actresses, TV hosts and news anchors.

The uniqueness of Miss Tourism International is the awarding of five Miss Tourism Titles in one event. Apart from the Miss Tourism International main title, there will be four other titles to be won, namely Miss Tourism Metropolitan International, Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International, Miss Tourism Global and Dreamgirl of The Year International.

A Miss SouthEast Asia Tourism Ambassadress will be selected from the participating ASEAN countries

There will be a total of 22 subsidiary titles to be awarded, such as Best In National Costume, Best In Social Media, Miss Friendship, Miss Popularity and Best In Talent.

The reigning Miss Tourism International 2017 Jannie Loudette Alipo-on from Philippines will crown the new Miss Tourism International 2018 winner.

Gabriella Robinson did the country proud when she became the first Malaysian to be crowned Miss Tourism International in 2011.
