With 2018 comes to a close, the inaugural Indian Fashion Festival (IFF) 2018 was held on New Year’s eve at V E Hotel & Residence, Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur – unveiling a stunning fashion presentation for a good cause.
Themed Catwalk with a Cause, IFF 2018 journeyed beyond its fashion focus to serve as a socially responsible fashion event in aid of Yayasan Sejahtera. Proceeds from the event was channelled towards Yayasan Sejahtera.
The event was a pioneering platform for Indian fashion presenting ready-to-wear collections from five local designers and brands – Ardana Haran, JK Homme, Loveetha, SS Couture, Vini G and Chennai based celebrity designer Sidney Sladen.
The event was attended by MP for Batu P. Prabakaran, together with IFF 2018 founder and fashion designer Shanmugha Selvi, celebrities, guests and the media.
In her welcome note, Shanmugha Selvi said, “We are excited to introduce for the first time a fashion festival of this magnitude and significance featuring world-class collections. IFF 2018 embodies the true spirit and heritage of the Indian culture and fashion – its vibrancy, beauty and elegance- through the creations of emerging and established designers from Malaysia and India, catapulting them onto a global platform. It is in our best interest how the Indian fashion industry develops and matures, in particular the advantages offered to our designers and brands.”
The highlight of the evening was the fashion showcase put on by designer Sidney Sladen where the models and showstopper Bindhu Madhavi, a popular South Indian actress, showcased 30 over of his creations.
Among the sponsors and partners for the successful event were Loveetha (main sponsor), V E Hotel & Residence (official hotel partner), Grooming & Etiquette Studio (runway coach), R.Yogash (show coordinator), Rihanna G (make up artist), Pillay’s Hair Studio (hair stylist) and Lioneye Pictures (video partner).
