The 12th edition of the Langkawi Ironman?Malaysia Triathlon scheduled to be held on Sunday will be postponed to a?suitable date later.
Championship director A.Chandrakumanan said the organisers were having?discussions with the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) to fix a new date.
He said the initial proposal to postpone the championship to May was not?feasible due to the time constraint.
He said the organisers had to postpone the championship as they needed?RM3 million including the cost of providing prizes, accommodation for the?officials and food and beverages for the organisers.
Chandrakumanan hoped that the Youth and Sports Ministry would take over the?organisation of the 2011 and subsequent championships.? The Ironman Langkawi consists of three disciplines, namely swimming (3.8km),?cycling (180.2km), and a 42km run.
