Jens Cheong wins Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant 2019

Jens Cheong Jen Sning from Petaling Jaya, Selangor was crowned as Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant 2019 (MACIP2019) held at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur on Dec 21.

The 23-year-old marketing manager claimed the coveted title by defeating seven other contestants in one of the most anticipated Chinese beauty pageant in Malaysia.

Jens Cheong was crowned by last year’s winner Jovane Phang.

“I think all the other contestants stood a great chance to win as well and I was just a bit luckier,” she said, crediting her family unwavering support and blessings as a big factor in her success.

The 168 cm (5’ 6”) tall beauty took home prizes worth more than RM184,000 including a Nissan X-Trail 2.0L SUV.

Cheong will be representing Malaysia at the 2020 TVB Miss Chinese International Pageant.

Last year’s winner Jovane Phang placed the crown on Jens Cheong’s head.

Rennie Lau, 25, a nutritionist, from Perak, finished as first runner-up besides grabbing the title of Miss Body Beautiful, whereas Selangor-born Chan Lee Xuan, 22, a model, won second runner-up and the subsidiary title of Miss Photogenic.

The initial eight contestants were narrowed down to Top 5 for the Q&A round, after which the Top 3 ladies were announced. 

Cecelia Hong Syin Earn, 21, a pilot, from Yong Peng, Johor who secured a spot in the Top 5 won the subsidiary title of Miss Popularity.

Hosted by Astro news anchor Siow Hui Mei and popular host Sammy Leung from Hong Kong, the competition started with the contestants wearing three unique outfits each from local designers, including a customized outfit, a bikini and a cheongsam.

Local singers performing alongside the contestants were Nicole Lai, Apple Kho, Jacqueline Tiang and Grace Lee.

Serene Lim, champion of Miss Astro International Pageant 2016 also performed with the contestants.

Celebrities who made appearances at the final were Hong Kong actress Teresa Mok, Singaporean actor Qi Yu Wu, MY radio announcer, actor and film producer Jack Lim.

Founder of Adonis, BB&BC Group Ann Lee was also present at this glamorous beauty pageant.

Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant 2019 (MACIP2019) was sponsored by Adonis, and co-sponsored by Samsung, Alcon’s FreshLook CC Lens and NIVEA.
