A 30-year-old male suspected to have committed 43 armed robberies has been arrested by the police here.
He was caught in possession of a .38 revolver and five bullets.
He is believed to have committed the crimes around the city and also in Kulaijaya since September last year.
The suspect was previously detained for two years under the Emergency Ordinance in 2002.
The case will be investigated under Section 8 of thele Firearms Act 1971 and Section 8(A) of the Weapons Act 1960 for possession of bullets.
Meanwhile, last Friday night, Johor Jaya police arrested another robbery suspect in a hotel along Jalan Masai Lama.
The suspect is believed to have committed 15 robberies.
Police found a plastic bag suspected to contain heroin and 15 Eramin pills, an imitation pistol, flick-knife and a 12.5-inch sword in the suspect’s room.
A motorcycle belonging to the suspect was also seized. The suspect however has been released after being detained for three days of investigation.
He is being investigated under Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1971 and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1953.
