The six-member ‘Alip’ gang, which is the moniker given to the group believes to be involved in 21 criminal cases in the last three months alone, have been arrested by police during a house raid recently.
The gang consists of youths aged between 19 to 26 and were nabbed at a house located at Skudai Kiri here.
According to Johor CPO, Datuk Mokhtar Mohd Shariff several items believed to be stolen from the gang’s victims were seized during the raid, including four bank books, four ATM cards, three identity cards, two driving licences and three handphones.
Among others, a motorcycle, a car and a 4 wheel drive vehicle were also impounded.
All the 6 suspects were said to have various criminal records and drug related offences. They are detained for seven days to facilitate further investigations.
In a another unrelated case, a 22 year-old leader of a certain ‘Kandar’ gang was nabbed in Jalan Meldrum at around 8.00pm end of last month.
The Police is looking out for the other remaining six gang members. They are suspected to be involved in 17 cases of robbery and snatch thefts.
Mokhtar Mohd further mentioned that the gang has been active for the past five months. The gang leader is currently been detained under Crime Prevention Acts under section 3 (1) of the Emergency Ordinance.
