An ambulance which was on its way to send an injured victim to the hospital collided with a cow while it was crossing the road in Melaka, Malaysia.
The ambulance was carrying a 40-year-old patient and an Assistant Medical Officer (PPP) from Sungai Rambai Health Clinic towards the hospital, when the unfortunate incident took place.
Assistant Commissioner Afzanizar Ahmad, the Melaka Tengah District Police Chief said that the cow was crossing on the main road, while the ambulance was on the left lane before the crash.
The accident caused the ambulance driver to sustain injuries on his left knee. Fortunately, both patient and the medical officer did not get injured, however, the cow died.
The state Exco for Health and Anti-Drugs, Rahmad Mariman reminded cattle breeders and owners not to neglect their animals as it could jeopardize the lives of road users.
He reminded that breeders who a found with their cattle’s roaming and risking public safety will be fined and their animals confiscated by the authorities.
The Malaysian Ministry of Health also took to their Facebook page to highlight the incident and remind breeders to not allow their animals to roam freely on the road.
“Dear cow owners, please take care of your cows. Don’t let it roam around as it could threaten the lives of road users. Luckily, our staffs and patient are safe and only experienced minor injuries, but, our ambulance is completely damaged.” the Facebook post read.
