MyEG launches hotel quarantine portal SafeQ for low-risk Covid-19 patients

MyEG officially launches hotel quarantine portal SafeQ for low-risk Covid-19 patients.

Malaysia’s e-Government service provider MY E.G. Services Bhd (MyEG) has launched SafeQ, an online portal offering hotel accommodation and amenity options available to low risk COVID-19 patients who wish to undergo mandatory quarantine requirements in more comfortable settings.

In a statement, the company said individuals who have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus but are deemed low-risk, who prefer not to undergo the required 10-day isolation period from a home-based quarantine or government facility like MAEPS now have the option of making arrangements through the portal to be quarantined at any of the participating hotels instead.

The SafeQ online portal, accessible at www.safeq.com.my, provides a selection of hotel accommodations of varying categories, ranging from 3-star to 5-star facilities, to cater to all budgets. At present, The Club Saujana and Silka Cheras are listed on the portal.

MyEG project director Datuk Nor Adnan Zainal Abidin said, “This service aims to assist the government in dealing with congestion in hospitals and other compulsory quarantine locations around the Klang Valley.

“This service is also approved by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) and Majlis Daerah Petaling. Therefore, strict operational standards and conditions have been and always will be adhered to by the hotels involved in providing the best service at all times to quarantined patients.”

The statement said eligibility of individuals to undergo quarantine at any of the hotels would be subject to verification by MyEG with health authorities. As safety and health of all stakeholders are of utmost importance, the prescribed standard operating procedures (SOP) will be strictly adhered to at all times, with government personnel stationed at all the approved hotels to ensure full compliance.

The statement further added that optional services that include Covid-19 swab tests, transportation to the hotels and other amenities aimed at providing a more comfortable, safe and convenient quarantine stay are also available on the portal.
