Aspiring supermodels in final selection round

The big moment was here at Silk Publika on the 10th April for 80 contestants who went through the final selection round to realize their dream of becoming the next Super Model Universe Malaysia.

Shortlisted from hundreds of aspirants all over the country, they comprised of 29 females, 28 males and 23 kids/teens, who presented themselves confidently in front of a panel of judges, taking the catwalk and answering interview questions on various subjects. They also had to show their posing skills in a photoshoot.

Ammetta Malhotra, national director of Super Model Universe Malaysia, was obviously excited with the higher quality and number of applicants than she expected.

Speaking at the Top 25 Reveal event held at the tapas bar and restaurant, she said, “This year, we’ve had an overwhelmingly positive response and I feel so excited to see the quality of the models and also the professionalism they displayed to learn and to grow with the pageant.”

She said the eminent panel of judges will assess and give feedback to the contestants based on their catwalk, body, presentation and photoshoot.

From the judging, the final order of the top 20 in each of the categories will be determined and to be revealed in a press conference scheduled on August.

The judges at the event included Angel Gracias (Super Model Universe 2020 second runner-up), Mertinih Ivy Joklis (Ratu Elegan Malaysia 2018/2019), Previtha Rajah (Super Model Universe Malaysia 2020 Ambassador), Renee Tang (Super Model Universe Malaysia 2019 Ambassador and catwalk trainer), Mosi (international fashion and fitness model), Mala Fo-ever (Mrs International Global 2017) and Nwabuike Uchechukwu (founder and director of Miss Africa Malaysia), among others.

The Top 20 will prepare for the Super Model Universe Malaysia 2021 grand finale, which is scheduled to take place on Sept 4 at Royale Chulan Damansara Hotel, Petaling Jaya, and the winners, one male and one female, will go on to represent Malaysia at the 2021 Super Model Universe International final.

The Super Model Universe Malaysia pageant is open to local and international models aged 18 – 37 years old, with minimum height 165 cm (5’ 4.96”) for female model and 170 cm (5’ 6.9”) for male model, and for the kid & teen models, aged between 6 – 16 years.
