With “Great Day”, Astro is hoping the move will help boost the local Chinese film industry.

In conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year, which falls on the February 3 this year, Astro will be bringing to its viewers another 100% locally produced movie called “Great Day.”

The movie, which dwells on community related issues such as filial piety and social values, was given green light by the local censorship board.

The movie, which was shot in Alor Setar and partly in Kuala Lumpur, focuses on different cultures within the community as well.

With “Great Day”, Astro is hoping the move will help boost the local Chinese film industry. In addition, the movie had also won the Special Jury Award at the recent 23rd Annual Malaysian Film Festival.

“Great Day” was directed by local director Chiu Keng Guan and stars an array of local talents made up of MY FM deejays like Jack Lim, Wan Wai Fun, Gan Jiang Han, Royce Tan, Vivian Tok and the little Crystal Lee, who was last seen in “Woohoo.”
