A stroll along the beach should be a very pleasing moment, however the same cannot be said if you happen to be strolling along Likas Bay Beach, Kota Kinabalu.

Komunitikini visited the beach on a Saturday afternoon, only to find rubbish strewn all over the beach.

The piles of rubbish – mostly plastic bags and containers, could have been thrown  into the sea sometime in the past, and have drifted along the beach with the tide.

The Kota Kinabalu municipal workers were earlier seen clearing the rubbish along the seaside but as the high tide comes in, morerubbish drifted to the shore.

Even with the rubbish, few visitors were seen bathing and picnicking at the Likas Bay Beach, which is situated opposite the Gaya and Sepangar islands.

A visitor who doesn’t want to be identified said that this is a common situation here because the beach is situated in the middle of Kota Kinabalu city.

“Luckily there are workers who do  the cleaning periodically. If not, it will be even worse,” said the disgruntled visitor.
