Kiranjit Kaur is excited to be a finalist in Mrs Grand Malaysia 2022.

Kiranjit Kaur, a 41-year-old mother of two children aged 12 and 9,  joined the pageant for the first time as a way to rebuild her self-confidence to handle challenges and affirm her real worth.

“I always had a very low self-esteem and confidence, growing up being a dark skin I always thought it was a crime, and till recently after I have got divorced after 18 years that hit me hard.

“It was then I decided that I want to join this competition to build my self-confidence as I feel this is the best platform to rebuild my confidence and a very good learning path, and prove to myself I am as beautiful as anyone else are and this was also necessary to set a good example for my two daughters,” said Kiranjit.

The tallest contestant at 166cm (5’ 5”) from Kuala Lumpur said of beauty: “Beauty is not only a reflection of your face but it’s also inside you. If you have a beautiful face but you are unkind to others that is not beautiful.”

Kiranjit, who graduated with a business marketing (Hons) degree from University of Northumbria, UK in 2003 is now pursuing a Master of Arts (MA) in Counselling Psychology at Open University Malaysia.

“By pursuing counselling I decided to major in family or couple counselling whereby I would provide counselling to couples or women who are going through a rough phase in their marriage.”

The catwalk training and mentoring program for the contestants are conducted by MF Academy.

MF Academy founder and certified catwalk-trainer Mala Forever said the contestants have improved their skills and knowledge and built their confidence in their abilities during the last two training sessions.

“They were cooperative even though some of them are still new in this pageant field and they are mothers who are willing to take up this challenge for their personal growth and self-esteem,” said Mala, a former beauty queen herself.
