2022 Super Model Universe Malaysia saw fifty candidates compete to make it to the Top 25 at the Top 25 Reveal event held at Level 1 Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur on March 27.
Shortlisted from hundreds of applicants, the fifty candidates were further eliminated to the Top 25 through a selection process by the 12-person judging panel made up of industry experts.
The aspiring models showed off their runway and photoshoot skills, and answered questions from the judges where the best 25 performing were chosen.
They will have the chance to become this year’s Super Model Universe Malaysia at the grand final that will take place at the grand ballroom of Royale Chulan Damansara Hotel, Petaling Jaya on July 16, 2022.
Super Model Universe Malaysia national director Ammetta Malhotra said it made her very proud to see the high quality and preparedness of the contestants this year.
“I would say that this year, we had a fantastic response to our call to auditions which is testament to the fact our pageant is growing stronger year by year.
“The quality of this year’s contestants is absolutely fantastic, so much diversity and a variety of different looks and personalities in the contestants that we have shortlisted.
“I think they are going to put on an amazing show and it is going to be very difficult for the judges to decide who will be the winners,” Ammetta said.
The competition is divided into three categories: Adult Models (local and international), Teen Models (local and international) and Kid Models (local and international).
Ammetta said the selected finalists were evaluated on a set of criteria with only the best contestants progressing to the grand finals.
“We were looking for attractive, intelligent people with vibrant personality, charisma, good interpersonal skills, overall pleasing aesthetics, fit or toned bodies and a willingness to be a team player and excited to learn and improve themselves in the modelling industry,” she said.
Among the judges for the Top 25 Reveal event were professional runway model Sharwita, Super Model Universe Malaysia 2021 fashion ambassador Trini Wong, celebrity model Evelyn Nadal, Mrs Malaysia Planet 2021 Dr. Sudhashini Nair, Mrs Malaysia World 2018 second runner-up Marianny Ismail, Supermodel Universe Malaysia Ambassador 2021 Previtha Rajah, international fashion and fitness model and personal trainer Mosi, Miss Africa Malaysia founder and director Nwabuike Uchechukwu, and renowned fashion designers Farel Mikhail and Jonathan Kok.
