Taramaraju, 67 from Kuala Lumpur recently made Malaysia proud by winning an award at the 2022 World Laughing Championship on 15th May 2022.
The 2022 Malaysia Laughter Champion won the award at the international competition in the Sad/Happy Laugh category.
Taramaraju was selected to represent Malaysia at The 2022 World Laughing Championship after beating 7 other competitors at the 2022 Malaysia Laughing Championship.
The national level competition was organized by The Johor Bahru Happy & Joyous Club 24th April 2022 and was held online via Zoom from 2pm to 3pm.
8 participants from all over the country including Taramaraju, Rajvin Kaur, V. Rajaperumal, Monica Lim Siew Lee, Jeanna Tan Poh Choo, Esther Teo Siam Cheng, Esther Chin Seow Yeen and Catherine Lim Suat Har took part in the competition and were selected after submitting their laughter videos upon registration.
Taramaraju was selected after meeting the selection criteria which was humility, joyfulness, sparkle, contagiousness and originality.
The Organizing Chair for the 2022 Malaysia Laughing Championship was Doreen Tey, and was emceed by Fung Lee Jean with Chief Judge Bachan Singh. Others in the organizing committee include Publicity Director Pauline Foo and Zoom Master Goh Siew Mei.
Members from the public from Malaysia and other countries including Austria, India, Canada, Japan, Germany, Tunisia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia were present to witness the fun competition.
