Johor Bahru Happy & Joyous Club (JBHJC) had organised and celebrated the 14th Johor Bahru – World Laughter Day 2022 on 1st May 2022 at the Pelangi Leisure Mall Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru.
The celebration was the first face-to-face event for the club after 2 years of online activity due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the club more that 100 participants took part in the celebrations with Stulang Assemblyman, Andrew Chen Kah Eng also attending as the guest of honor.
JBHJC which aims to promote world peace through laughter, have outdoor fellowship with members and increase awareness on the benefits of laughing to the community, had many exciting activities during the celebrations.
Among the activities was The World Laughter Day contests which saw Ragendran I. Muniandy, 43 and Tan Lee Choo, 61 crowned as the Laughter King and Laughter Queen respectively.
Free exclusive World Laughter Day t-shirts together with breakfast and goody bags were also provided to the participants.
“World Laughter Day was created in 1998 by Dr Madan Kataria, the worldwide Laughter Yoga movement founder. The celebration of World Laughter Day is a positive manifestation of world peace and it is intended to build global consciousness of brotherhood and friendship through laughter.” JBHJC said in a statement.
During the celebrations, an extract of the World Laughter Day Peace Message from Dr. Madan Kataria’s was delivered in the four main languages spoken in Malaysia.
Esther Okay read the message in Bahasa Melayu, while Monica Lim in Mandarin, Punitha in Tamil and Bachan Singh in the English language.
“Laughter is a universal language. It is a positive and powerful emotion that has all the ingredients required for individuals to change themselves and to change the world in a peaceful and positive way,” JBHJC added in its statement.
JBHJC has been conducting the Laughter Zoom session daily since the pandemic started in March 2020. Those interested may contact the club via their Facebook to attend their sessions for free.
