The dengue death toll currently stands at 123, according to Deputy Health Minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin.
She said today, the figure was derived from the 42,749 dengue cases reported between January and yesterday.
She added that Selangor recorded the highest number of deaths at 43, involving 15,323 cases.
Rosnah noted that the dengue cases indicated an increase as compared to the same period last year, whereby 36,294 cases were reported and involved 77 deaths.
She was speaking to reporters after launching the Juara Rakyat Health and Safety Carnival organised by the Temerloh Umno division here.
Also present at the event was Temerloh Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Sharkar Shamsuddin.
