Do you remember when the expiration date of your driving license is? It will be on your next birthday if you have renewed or your previous birthday if you have missed the renewal.
Before November 2011, the expiration date was a random date set according to the validity period you picked. After November 2011, the expiration date of the driving license matches the driver’s date of birth, so it is easier to remember.
Here’s an important point to remember. You must not have any outstanding traffic offences to renew your driving license.
You can check your outstanding summons here.
If you fulfil the above conditions, you can renew your driving license and choose from 1-year validity up to 5 years.
What do you need to bring for the driving license renewal?
Most importantly, you must bring your Identification Card (IC) for verification. Without your IC you will not be able to renew your driving license.
If your IC Chip is functioning correctly, the officer at the counter will use the existing photo stored in your IC. However, if you choose to use a photo, then make sure to bring a photo with white background (25mm width, 32mm height).
And of course money. A yearly fee for Class B, B2 & C is RM 20.00 and for Class D & above is RM 30.00. For Class A & A1 is RM 2.00.
