Malaysians will be able to get their hands on a variety of cheap and original branded goods at the “Go Original” Carnival, organised by the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry from today until Sunday.
Scheduled to be launched by deputy minister Tan Lian Hoe, the carnival will be held at Hall 3 of the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre from 10am to 11pm.
The ministry’s enforcement director-general, Mohd Roslan Mahayudin, said 73 booths would offer original spare parts, electrical items, computer software, mobile phones, sports equipment, clothes, decorative items and health products at attractive prices.
“Visitors can also learn how to identify original products from fake ones,” he said in an interview with Bernama recently.
Mohd Roslan said other activities such as a lucky draw, performances by popular local artists and children’s drawing competition would also be held throughout the carnival.
He added that the carnival was part of the Piracy Eradication Campaign 2010 which started on May 10, which also includes talks, seminars and workshops.
“The talks, seminars and workshops will be held in the northern, central, eastern, and southern regions,” he said.
