Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) celebrated its 37th anniversary by unveiling a time capsule dating back to 1990.
The hospital was established in 1985 in Subang Jaya to provide comprehensive and complex care in all specialities.
SJMC is also a tertiary referral hospital. It receives local patient referrals from within Malaysia and international patients from the Asia Pacific region.
Since its establishment, SJMC has become a recognised name for the wave of innovation for medical excellence.
Giving back to the community
In recognition of the milestone achievement, SJMC organised an event on August 5 to give back to the Subang Jaya community as a sign of appreciation.
“At the heart of our celebration is people. I honour the rich legacy of SJMC to those who have laid strong foundations,” SJMC CEO Bryan Lin said during his speech.
At the event, Lin presented a mock cheque for 37 complimentary 3D mammogram screenings to Subang Jaya state assemblyperson Michelle Ng.
He also presented another mock cheque to Kelvin Chew of Persatuan Bantuan Kecemasaan Dan Bomba Komuniti Subang Jaya in support of the Subang Jaya community ambulance.
“Today, we continue to build from strength to strength, locally and regionally.
“One of our strong local supporters has been the people of Subang Jaya. Many babies of Subang were born here and went on to build families.
“So, on this special occasion, it gives me great joy to give back to the community of Subang Jaya,” he added.
Opening the SJMC time capsule
Following the mock cheque presentation, Lin gave long service awards to 33 doctors and staff members who have served SJMC for over 31 years.
The award ceremony was followed by the opening of the time capsule.
Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care’s Mustamir bin Mohammad, Peter Hong, and Dato’ Dr Jacob Thomas joined Lin to unveil the 32-year-old time capsule.
The time capsule contained a photo album and scroll with signatures of those who witnessed the opening of the hospital’s Outpatient Centre in 1990.
The celebration was hosted by comedian Harith Iskander and ended with a hi-tea at Café 35.
SJMC bagged six awards from the Global Health Asia-Pacific Healthcare Hospital Awards 2022 earlier this week.
Last month, SJMC was named Best Hospital of the Year 2022 by Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Best Practices Award for a second consecutive year.
Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) is the flagship hospital of Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care, a joint venture between Ramsay Health Care, Australia and Sime Darby, Malaysia.
