100-year-old school to get a new home

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said the school, located in a fishing village, needed a new home as its classrooms made of planks were falling apart.

The 100-year-old Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Wu Teck in Bagan Hylam, Port Klang will be getting a new home in Bandar Parklands, Bandar Bukit Tinggi 3 near here in 2012.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said the school, located in a fishing village, needed a new home as its classrooms made of planks were falling apart.

He said the cost of builing the new school on a 1.4 hectare site was being borne by the government which was contributing RM3 million while Bandar Parklands’ developer was providing RM1 million.

“The school will be ready by next year and be able to commence operations in 2012. It will be able to accomodate 1,000 pupils in a single session,” he told a press conference here today.

He said the ‘U’ shaped school would have 30 classrooms, a canteen, a field, badminton court, recreational area, assembly point and other facilities.
