"We need RM 30,000 a month" – PPKCK

A safe home, a happy environment to live and love from people around them is all what the children of Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Klang, Selangor (PPKCK) (Handicapped and Disabled Children’s Association of Klang, Selangor) would ever want.

Established in December 1994 in a quiet town near Teluk Pulai, the Home quickly moved to a new location in Port Klang in August 1999 after receiving multiple complaints from the neighbours, who claimed that the children were making too much noise.

The Centre, which was initially set up to provide care for the physically and mentally challenged children has over the years evolved into a “common place” for irresponsible individuals to abandon their unwanted children. Due to the increasing number of children being abandoned by their own family, the Centre now has a staggering number of 78 occupants and still counting.

As such, the amount of expenses needed to support the children has been increasing dramatically over the years. On average, PPKCK needs about RM 30,000 a month to cover all the operating expenses like the children’s monthly tuition fees, transportation cost, medical expenses, cooks, teachers, drivers and rentals.

Chairman and founder of PPKCK, Mr Morgun Nadesan said that there are cases, where the children are being left there at the centre without any proper documents on them and their family members leave no traces such as like contact numbers or an address.

With the increasing number of children coming in, the Centre is in need for a larger premise to house all of its occupants, with plenty of room to run around. Campaigns have been launched to raise fund to provide help for the children’s education, health and medical care.

The We Love, We Care Charity Carnival, which will be held at the Tropicana City Mall on the 27th and 28th of November will be running its main objective which is to raise sufficient funds to sustain the hope and provide care for the unfortunate children.
