Selangor police chief: Tell me on Facebook if scared to lodge report

Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said the public could channel information directly to his Facebook page on the misconduct of police personnel in the state if they are afraid to make a police report.

Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said the public could channel information directly to his Facebook page on the misconduct of police personnel in the state if they are afraid to make a police report.

He said people might fear of being threatened or intimidated if the errant police personnel came to know about the reports lodged against them, but this would not happen if the complaints were sent to him directly.

“The public should not fear to inform the authorities about police misconduct…if they are still scared, then they should communicate directly with me.

“How can we investigate any misconduct if no report is made? If it is true, then why should the public be scared to make a report?” Khalid told Bernama when contacted.

The police chief was commenting on allegations that certain police personnel had been “bought” by the main suspect in the murders of millionaire Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya and three others, in order the cover up his criminal activities.

Khalid did not deny that there were policemen who earned a small salary but lived a luxurious life, adding that they were always being monitored by the police disciplinary unit.

Khalid had Thursday urged any individual with information on police personnel in Kuala Langat alleged to have been “bought” by the suspect in the murders, to report directly to him, Bukit Aman or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
