Avoid Leaving Children With Maid Too Long, Parents Advised

Khalid was commenting on the case of 15-month-old baby boy, Tan Jin Yong, who was found dead in Taman Melawati, Ampang, on Aug 27, believed to have been strangled by his maid.

Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar reminded parents not to leave their children with the maid for a prolong period to avoid any untoward incident.

He said those with small children or babies should provide their little ones with more attention rather than delegating the full responsibility to their maids.

“Don’t leave children in the sole care of maids. Some parents leave their children for days and don’t realise that something could be endangering their children,” he told reporters here Friday.

The post-mortem found that the baby suffered from a brain hemorrhage, lung infection and internal bleeding.

Investigations also revealed old cracks in the baby’s leg bones, believed to have been the result of abuse.

On Thursday, police arrested a 25-year-old Indonesian woman in connection with the case.
