The International Jazz Day celebration takes place around the world on April 30th, and Sabah is fortunate to have its own Jazz event to celebrate the occasion. Sabah Jazz is listed on Unesco’s International Jazz Day celebration, bringing together communities, learning institutions, artists, academics and jazz enthusiasts in celebrating jazz music.

The event will feature jazz performances from various artists, including Sabah’s highly talented jazz band, the Blue Note Band, as well as Jess & The Deaf Katz, Angelyca Laura, neojuice and Aphrodites of Sabah Institute of Art.

In an effort to give back to the community, this year’s Sabah Jazz has teamed up with Urban Tamu to offer the event to the public for free.

“We are excited to announce that this year’s Sabah Jazz will be a much more casual affair and open to the public for free,” said Jessel Yansalang, SAHDEA’s Vice President.

The collaboration with Urban Tamu is also an opportunity to promote the tourism industry through music and local events, according to Andrew Lee, co-organiser of Urban Tamu.
