The Malay Mail Care Fund

Ever since The Malay Mail Charity Fund first materialised on May 15, 1991, it has helped so many people in ways only they can appreciate.

The charity fund was set up to provide financial aid to truly deserving Malaysians – the poor, the disabled, the critically ill, the homeless as well as children in need – irrespective of race, religion and creed.

After The Malay Mail separated from The New Straits Times Press (NSTP) in 2008, the charity fund has been given a new breath of life, with it now being called The Malay Mail Care Fund.

In celebrating its rebirth, The Malay Mail Care Fund was officially launched on Aug 19, 2010 at the Sarawak Ballroom of the Shangri-La Hotel in Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur by its patron Datin Nafesah Raja Nong Chik, the wife of Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin.

The simple ceremony also saw some 80 children from Rumah Nur Salam, Chow Kit being created to a sumptuous buka puasa. The children also received goodie bag and duit raya each.

Despite the name change, its objective remains. This new charitable trust continues to compliment what The Malay Mail is all about – caring for the community.

To get the ball rolling, several caring corporate citizens include AmBank Group, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, RW Imaging & Events, Alam Flora Sdn Bhd, Malaysian Association of Hotels, Malayan Banking Berhad had extended their help by donating to the fund.

In its effort to continue its responsibility as well as corporate social obligations towards deserving Malaysians, The Malay Mail is now offering a chance for all other Malaysians to be a part of this noble cause.

The public’s participation and support will be invaluable towards ensuring the success of this noble cause, initiated for the benefit of unfortunate and underprivileged Malaysians.
