Director Kelvin Wong is back with a refreshed ensemble for the second installment of Indicinelive!
If you missed the first show, no loss. The second one is better. A series of comedic skits that make fun of Malaysian life while making subtle, but funny, commentary on local issues, Indicinelive! is fresh and relevant.
The writing is much tighter this time around, with far less slapstick and far more memorable lines.
A couple of the skits did fall flat but on the whole, the pace and energy were pretty constant throughout.
As an ensemble, the cast did a better job with the material. In the first episode, half the time the talent wasn’t up to the level of the writing. This time around, the players acquitted themselves well with special mention to Claudia Low and Nabihan Yaacob for all round good performances. The two deserve gold stars for comedic timing, excellent diction and projection as well as being very, very funny. It isn’t often that women out-funny their male counterparts on stage but Low and Nabihan show excellent comedic mettle.
