Welfare home Rumah Titian Kasih that was ordered to vacate their female premises will be holding a fund-raising dinner this Sunday at De Palma Hotel Ampang.
The operator Sharipah Ablan said they are aiming to raise RM100,000 through the 50-table dinner t.
“We are still in discussion with her to let us stay at the same house. We don’t know whether (the owner) will raise the rental but we will continually raise funds,” said the guardian who better known as ‘Mak Pah’.
“The tables are priced at RM1000-RM5000 for 10 persons; we are still left with 17 unsold tables,”
The shelter home to some 120 orphans, single mothers and marginalised individuals was caught in a bind after one of its premises at Persiaran Titiwangsa was taken back by the owner on July 1.
The owner however withdrew her decision later to allow them to move back to the premise, but without giving any assurances.
Mak Pah said she will strive to get a new house if the discussion does not bear fruit.
She meanwhile said the promise earlier made by Women Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil was too in limbo.
“Her officers did come to visit us. But we have yet to receive any black and white guarantees.”
The Muslim welfare home has been operating since 1998. It originally has two rented premises, which are the male dorms at Jalan Maran and the female dorms at Persiaran Titiwangsa.
