Leading halal personal care brand Good Virtues Co. and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) recently concluded the highly anticipated Do Good Challenge with a grand finale ceremony.
This innovative competition, designed by Good Virtues Co. in collaboration with UiTM, aimed to empower young Malaysians by providing them with real-life entrepreneurial knowledge and skills.
With the theme “In Doing Good, We Believe That Good Is Returned,” participants were encouraged to make a positive impact on society while competing for the coveted prize.
The Do Good Challenge empowers young Malaysians
The Do Good Challenge, initiated by Good Virtues Co., commenced in July 2022, with UiTM serving as the partnering platform. The competition aimed to nurture young Malaysians and equip them with the necessary skills to succeed as entrepreneurs.
It encouraged participants to give back to society while showcasing their entrepreneurial abilities. Good Virtues Co. is proud to be the first brand to collaborate with UiTM, and their partnership enabled every submission for the Do Good Challenge to contribute to the credit-bearing SULAM Program.
This program aligns with the Ministry of Higher Education’s approved curriculum and aims to produce well-rounded graduates with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Lum Chong Heng, the Commercial Director of City Chemo Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, expressed his gratitude for the collaboration with UiTM. He highlighted the significant impact of the Do Good Challenge in directly engaging and inspiring Muslim users.
The overwhelming response received by Good Virtues Co. affirmed the power of the competition in connecting with consumers and future business leaders who resonate with the brand’s message of inner beauty.
The success and future of the Do Good Challenge
The Do Good Challenge stood as a unique competition, inviting UiTM students to pitch innovative ideas to a panel of judges in four key Community Engagement areas: Education, Health, Humanitarianism, and the Environment.
With over 7,000 entries across 30 UiTM campuses, the competition provided an opportunity for students to apply their learnings to real-life situations, fostering a sense of civic responsibility.
The challenge progressed through four phases, encompassing submissions, workshopping, and training, culminating in the selection of five finalists who received seed funding of RM8,000. These finalists then presented their business proposals to the judging panel, showcasing their innovative solutions and social impact for a chance to win the Grand Prize of RM30,000.
Dayah Bakar, a celebrity entrepreneur and judge for the Do Good Challenge, commended the quality of pitches and ideas presented by the participants. She emphasized the importance of competitions like this in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world applications, while also fostering a civic-conscious mindset.
The success of the Do Good Challenge has paved the way for continued collaboration between Good Virtues Co. and UiTM. Season 2 of the competition is set to commence in October 2023 and will expand its reach to campuses in East Malaysia. This expansion demonstrates the commitment to nurturing young entrepreneurial talents and driving positive change in communities across the country.
