The Truly Loving Company (TLC) has started the Promise Me Campaign to encourage youths to educate themselves through charity work, learning about keeping promises as well as making the wishes of those less fortunate come true. Young Malaysians from AIESEC, ELC International School and Nuffnang bloggers will turn these wishes into reality within a month under the Promise Me youth engagement programme.
During the month-long campaign period, youth who have volunteered will record their progress at www.tlcpromiseme.com, a dedicated micro site that will allow the public to follow their individual journeys and participate by assisting the youths in fulfilling their pledges.
About 70 wishes have been collected from TLC’s charity partners which are The Handicapped & Mentally Disabled Children Association in Johor Baru, Hospis Malaysia, National Stroke Association of Malaysia and Rumah Aman.
The launch of TLC was also attended by Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Sharizat Abdul Jalil who called The Promise Me Campaign an excellent idea and a great example to engage the youths in an endeavour similar to the Make a Wish Foundation.
Sharizat said the campaign is an excellent example of how the ministry can collaborate with the private sector to jointly benefit the community through promoting values.
Julia Chong, CEO and Founder of The Truly Loving Company, said she was truly blessed to have her son propose the idea initially. He had already made his promise to take a month off architectural work just to see this campaign through. The Promise Me Campaign, according to Chong, is about channelling the collective energy of communities into helping the less privileged in our society.
