Komunitikini secured an interview with Community Policing founder, Kuan Chee Heng, a pioneering nonprofit organisation based on the partnership between the police and the community whereby the police and the community share responsibility for identifying, reducing, eliminating and preventing problems that impact community safety and order.

Image1987He also said he was pleased with the decline in crime within the area and said he was there to thank the prime minister for his initiatives, while urging the public to maintain a close communal bond with the police stressing on the importance of sharing information to stop crime.

He also explained how his organisation provides channels the public could engage in assisting the police. He claimed that the website already has 8000 members and is expected to grow as people realise the role of the community in crime fighting.

Some residents took the opportunity to raise several other issues, from problems caused by developers, the absence of parking bays to the lack of public amenities at the local market- hoping the prime minister would do the same as he did with the local crime rate.
