FedEx marks 30th Anniversary with tree-planting initiative

100 FedEx volunteers came together to plant 100 tree seedlings in Desaru, Johor Bahru, and Balik Pulau, Penang, demonstrating their commitment to sustainability

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp and a global leader in express transportation services, celebrated its 30th anniversary in Malaysia by embarking on a series of tree-planting activities. Demonstrating their commitment to community and sustainability, 100 FedEx volunteers came together to plant 100 tree seedlings in Desaru, Johor Bahru, and Balik Pulau, Penang.

These initiatives align with FedEx’s core values of giving back to the community and preserving the environment. By dedicating resources to safeguarding Malaysia’s natural heritage in Johor Bahru and establishing a food forest and seed bank to promote sustainable food production in Penang, FedEx is actively contributing to projects that aim to create a better world for all.

Tien Long Woon, Managing Director of FedEx Express Malaysia, expressed the company’s dedication to both Malaysia and environmental preservation. He stated, “Our commitment to Malaysia for the last 30 years extends beyond supporting businesses of FedEx in Malaysia through an initiative that addresses the needs of local communities. We are committed to creating a better world by supporting efforts to preserve the environment. FedEx’s history and growth

FedEx has a rich history in Malaysia, with its introduction of direct services to customers in the country in 1993. Over the years, the company expanded its services, launching transpacific next-day service for Penang in 1997 and opening a facility in Batu Kawan in 2020 to enhance its network and meet the growing demand of local customers. Presently, FedEx employs more than 1,700 team members in Malaysia, providing international express delivery services and advanced digital shipping tools to a wide range of businesses, from startups to multinational corporations.

In addition to its commitment to serving businesses, FedEx is actively pursuing sustainability goals. The company recently introduced electric vehicles to its fleet in Malaysia, marking a significant step toward reducing its environmental footprint and promoting sustainable logistics practices.
