As the Hindu community eagerly anticipates the joyous occasion of Deepavali, the Universiti Utara Malaysia Student Representative Council (MPP UUM) organized a heartwarming event called ‘Aram Sei Deepavali’ on the preceding Friday. This event aimed to illuminate the true spirit of Deepavali, emphasizing unity, compassion, and community service.
‘Aram Sei Deepavali’ was carefully planned to serve the local community, underprivileged children, and UUM students from the B40 category. Khausalya Chandran, the Administrative Secretary of UUM MPP, highlighted the significance of the event in promoting the values of Deepavali.
Khausalya Chandran expressed, “The ‘Aram Sei Deepavali’ program stands as a testament to the power of community, unity, and kindness where it shows how a small group of dedicated individuals can make a big impact and leave a legacy of love and service to the community.”
She emphasized that Deepavali is not merely a festival of lights but a festival of giving, compassion, and hope for those in need. The event was a call for everyone to share the light of hope, love, and goodwill with those less fortunate, especially in the lead-up to Deepavali.
Spreading the Light of Deepavali
In conjunction with ‘Aram Sei Deepavali,’ MPP UUM extended a helping hand to those in need. They provided food baskets and donations to 15 underprivileged children, helping to make their Deepavali a little brighter. Additionally, a generous donation of RM2,000 was made to UUM Indian students from the B40 group, and Arulmigu Sri Murugan Temple in Jitra received a donation of RM500.
The volunteers of the ‘Aram Sei Deepavali’ event went beyond financial contributions. They also took the initiative to clean and beautify the entire temple premises, demonstrating their respect for local culture and heritage.
‘Aram Sei Deepavali’ serves as a beacon of hope, unity, and compassion, bringing to life the true essence of Deepavali. This heartwarming initiative by the UUM Student Representative Council not only spreads light but also instills a spirit of volunteerism, community service, and kindness in the hearts of the participants.
As the Deepavali celebration approaches, the warmth and generosity of ‘Aram Sei Deepavali’ remind everyone of the importance of sharing love, hope, and goodwill with those less fortunate, making the festival truly meaningful.
