In a heartfelt display of community support and charity, Heineken Malaysia hosted its annual Tiger Chinese Education Charity Concert (Tiger CECC) program, dedicated to raising funds for UTAR Hospital in Kampar. The event, which took place at the HGH Convention Centre in Sentul, marked the first time Tiger CECC extended its support beyond schools to a hospital, contributing RM 3,911,853.00 to benefit both local communities and medical students.
Tiger CECC, established in 1994, has been uniting local communities for nearly 30 years, funding more than 535 local schools through charity concerts. Over its history, the program has successfully raised more than RM 390 million, creating a lasting impact on thousands of students and contributing significantly to the nation’s educational foundation.
Heineken Malaysia’s commitment to community
Roland Bala, Managing Director of Heineken Malaysia, shared his pride in Tiger Beer’s role in bringing communities together, emphasizing the company’s commitment to the well-being of local communities. He stated, “Through Tiger CECC, we aim to provide a platform to raise much-needed funds that help shape and develop Malaysia’s communities and future leaders.”
As UTAR is a not-for-profit private university, its medical institution seeks to provide affordable medical services in both Western and Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM) treatments to the community in Kampar and surrounding areas. Tiger CECC’s contribution will boost the hospital’s outpatient and in-patient treatment facilities, diagnostics, and medical and mental health support, as well as enhance the hands-on training, education, and research for UTAR’s medical students.
The charity event drew more than 1,000 attendees, with notable figures such as Tun Dr. Ling Liong Sik, Chancellor of UTAR; Ir. Academician Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Chuah Hean Teik, Chairman of UTAR Hospital Board; and Ir. Professor Dato’ Dr. Ewe Hong Tat, President/CEO of UTAR in attendance.
Grateful for the overwhelming support, Ir. Professor Dato’ Dr. Ewe Hong Tat expressed, “This will go a long way in benefiting our local communities, especially those in need. It is heartwarming and inspiring to see so many people step forward to contribute.”
A night of cultural and musical delights
The evening was filled with cultural performances and musical talents. Artists Wu Jia Hui, Yee Yee, Victor Lee, Z Yan, Zac Chi Chiang, and Jyin treated attendees to a medley of hit songs. The Tiger CECC dancers added elegance to the vibrant display, setting the stage for a memorable night.
Guest singer Chris Cheong, the winner of the Astro 2020 Classic Golden Melody Singing Competition, delivered a special performance to show her support for the event’s cause. The renowned Malaysian Chinese music group, Freddie & Catz, brought new life to timeless melodies with their contemporary adaptations, infusing the evening with a fresh and modern rhythm.
The night’s unplugged session, featuring Z Yan, Yee Yee, Zac, Jyin, Wu Jia Hui, and Victor Lee, drew the event to a mesmerizing close, leaving attendees captivated by a seamless sequence of soulful tunes.
The Tiger CECC proved once again that the power of music and community can come together to make a positive impact, not just on educational institutions but also on crucial healthcare facilities.
