In a bold move towards enhancing efficiency and convenience for international travelers, Malaysia has introduced the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC), a cutting-edge digital platform that is revolutionizing immigration procedures at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Implemented from December 1, 2023, this innovative system is poised to streamline the entry process, offering a smoother and more convenient experience for foreign nationals.
The MDAC application process: A comprehensive guide
Step 1: Visit the MDAC Website
The journey begins by visiting the official Malaysia Digital Arrival Card website at https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main. This is the sole platform for submitting MDAC applications, ensuring the authenticity and security of the process.
Step 2: Click on “Registration”
On the MDAC homepage, locate and click on the “Registration” button. This will redirect you to the registration page, where you will initiate the application process.
Step 3: Enter Personal Information
Provide accurate and complete personal details, including your name, passport number, nationality, date of birth, email address, and phone number. Precision in data entry is crucial for a successful application.
Step 4: Enter Travel Information
Input essential travel details such as flight information, arrival and departure dates, and accommodation details. This information not only verifies eligibility for visa-free entry but also aids in expediting immigration processing upon arrival.
Step 5: Review and Submit the Form
Thoroughly review the entered information for accuracy and completeness. Correct any errors, if necessary, before clicking the “Submit” button. A successful submission initiates the confirmation process.
Step 6: Receive Confirmation Email
Upon submission, a confirmation email containing your MDAC application details will be sent to your registered email address. Preserve this email, as it may be required during immigration clearance upon arrival in Malaysia.
Special privileges for citizens of 10 Countries
Citizens from Australia, Brunei, Germany, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the US, and the UK enjoy special privileges, including the use of autogates for immigration clearance at KLIA.
To qualify, travelers must submit the MDAC three days before arrival (except for permanent residents and long-term pass holders) and possess passports with a validity period of six months or more.
Tips for a seamless entry process
- First-Time Arrivals: For visitors coming to Malaysia for the first time, MDAC submission is mandatory three days before arrival. Enroll fingerprints and verify passports at the manual counter for initial visits. Autogates can be utilized for subsequent visits.
- Returning Visitors: MDAC submission remains a prerequisite for each visit, ensuring a hassle-free experience through autogates.
A smoother journey awaits
With the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card, Malaysia demonstrates its commitment to modernizing immigration procedures, providing a seamless experience for international travelers. The MDAC not only facilitates visa-free entry but also contributes to a more efficient and convenient entry process, aligning with Malaysia’s vision of becoming a tech-savvy, tourist-friendly destination.
