Malaysia to host Asia Pacific Predator League 2025

In a significant move affirming Malaysia’s position in the gaming world, Acer has announced that the country will host the next edition of the Asia Pacific Predator League (APAC Predator League) in 2025. The announcement came during the closing ceremony of the fifth APAC Predator League in Manila, where Acer Malaysia Managing Director Kon Tek Yoong received the coveted Predator League pennant from Sue Ong-Lim, General Manager of Acer Philippines.

Addressing the media, Kon Tek Yoong expressed his excitement, stating, “Gaming is undoubtedly a bona fide global phenomenon; the industry is tipped to cross US$320 billion by 2026. We feel incredibly honoured to have the opportunity to host the next edition of the APAC Predator League. This tournament is one of the ways we can support Malaysia’s ambition of becoming a hub for eSports in Southeast Asia as it will feature players and teams from across Pan Asia Pacific.”

He added, “We will do our utmost best to show the region what Malaysian hospitality has to offer the gaming community and hope to inspire more local talents who aspire to join the industry.”

The APAC Predator League has become a flagship event in the gaming calendar, drawing participants and enthusiasts from across the Asia Pacific region. The upcoming league will see regional qualifiers kicking off later this year, with the grand event scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.

Winning teams take home US$65,000 each

The recently concluded APAC Predator League 2024 in Manila witnessed over 15,000 spectators at the grand finals held in the Mall of Asia Arena. Blacklist International and Team Secret emerged as champions in Dota 2 and Valorant, respectively, captivating the home crowd. Both teams secured not only the prestigious Predator Shield but also a substantial prize of US$65,000 each.

The runners-up for Dota 2, Exacration, and Valorant, FAV gaming, displayed commendable performances and received US$20,000 each for their efforts.

Additionally, the tournament recognized outstanding individual players with the Intel MVP Awards. Polo “Raven” Fausto from Blacklist International was named the Dota 2 MVP, while Jeremy “Jremy” Cabrera from Team Secret earned the Valorant MVP title. These exceptional players were awarded an additional US$10,000 each, along with the Intel MVP Award Trophy.
