Selangor Creative Arts Movement launches CNY photo contest

Celebrate Chinese New Year with Selangor Creative Arts Movement’s photo contest. Capture the essence for a chance to win up to RM 1000.

In celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year, The Selangor Creative Arts Movement (SCREAM), an initiative by Selangor Youth Community (SAY), is extending an invitation to Malaysians to participate in a vibrant and creative photo contest. The primary goal of the contest is to showcase the beauty and diversity inherent in Chinese New Year celebrations, all through the lens of talented photographers.

Dubbed the #SAYSCREAMPhotoChallenge 2024, this exciting contest invites participants to share their best snapshots capturing the spirit and essence of Chinese New Year. With a total prize pool of RM 2600, participants stand a chance to win cash prizes as follows: 1st place – RM 1000, 2nd place – RM 800, 3rd place – RM 500, and three consolation prizes of RM 100 each.

To enter, contestants are required to post their Chinese New Year-themed pictures on Instagram or Facebook, tagging both @selangorcreativeartmovement and @selangoryouth, while using the hashtags #saycny, #selangoryouth, and #sayscreamphotochallenge2024. The submission deadline is set for 15th February 2024, closing at 11:59 PM.

The contest is exclusively open to Malaysian citizens. Participants retain full copyright ownership of their submitted photos. The winning entries, however, will be required to provide the original image files as proof of ownership and for potential use in future exhibitions.

A panel of qualified judges, selected by the organizers will evaluate all eligible submissions. The winners, three main prize recipients and three consolation prize winners, will be announced two weeks after the contest concludes. Successful participants will be notified through direct messages or Facebook Messenger.

Community Empowerment and Development

SCREAM, founded with a vision to uncover, discover, and develop creative professionals within Selangor, aims to foster public appreciation for arts and creativity. The movement actively engages with local communities to spotlight their creative capabilities through large-scale projects and mass participations.

Selangor Youth Community (SAY), a non-profit and non-governmental organization, works towards creating a community of youth in Selangor. Supported by the Raja Muda of Selangor’s vision for a vibrant youth community, SAY strives to connect Selangor youth to various development opportunities.
