In a concerted effort to uplift the lives of indigenous children in Malaysia, FBS, a prominent global broker, has teamed up with SUKA Society to organize the English Children Camp in the remote villages of Batang Padang District, Perak State. This collaborative endeavor forms part of an initiative aimed at enriching the educational experiences of indigenous communities and fostering positive change within these regions.
The English Children Camp, conducted at the beginning of March 2024 in Tapah and facilitated by SUKA Society, welcomed approximately 80 children hailing from remote villages. Over the span of two days, these eager learners immersed themselves in English language practice and participated in a variety of educational entertainment activities meticulously designed to make learning both enjoyable and effective. As part of FBS’s sponsorship, each child was equipped with essential study materials including notebooks, pens, and reusable water bottles.
Yi Ting, the Resource Coordinator at SUKA Society, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the partnership with FBS, underscoring the profound impact of their support. Ting remarked, “We are truly grateful for the partnership with FBS. FBS played a crucial role in the success of our recent Project Warisan English Camp. With the support given, we were able to go the extra mile by providing all the necessary materials for the children, enhancing the overall educational experience.”
Ting also highlighted the extension of English classes to parents, a request voiced by the community. This initiative was met with sincere appreciation from parents, many of whom had previously lacked access to formal education. The opportunity for both children and parents to engage in a fun and interactive English learning environment not only sparked enthusiasm for education but also opened doors to a brighter future.
Commitment to educational access and transformation
Aizzat Arfa, FBS’s Official Representative in Malaysia, echoed Ting’s sentiments, expressing enthusiasm for the collaboration. Arfa affirmed, “At FBS, we believe in the transformative power of knowledge and are committed to making education more accessible for communities in need.”
The English Children Camp marks the second collaborative effort between FBS and SUKA Society under the Empowered2Teach initiative in Peninsular Malaysia. Beyond language acquisition, this initiative seeks to provide tools and opportunities for both children and parents to learn and grow, inspiring them to continue their educational journey.
Through their partnership, FBS and SUKA Society are dedicated to paving the way for a brighter and more promising future for the young minds of Malaysia, embodying the spirit of community empowerment and positive change.
