SOMMNI and PONEY unite to revolutionize kids bedding

SOMMNI & PONEY unite for kids’ bedding series, donating to orphanages. Innovation meets CSR in this impactful collaboration.

SOMMNI Sdn. Bhd. (SOMMNI), a rising star in Malaysia’s bedding industry, and PONEY Group (PONEY), a well-known name in children’s fashion retail, have teamed up for an exciting collaboration that promises to revolutionize kids bedding. The announcement of this partnership was made today at PONEY, IOI CITY MALL, marking a significant milestone for both companies and underlining their joint commitment to delivering quality products for children while actively contributing to the community.

The collaboration commenced with the Hearts & Homes: Aidilfitri Charity Launch, graced by Yang Berhomat (YB) Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM). SOMMNI and PONEY, in a generous display of corporate social responsibility, donated 100 mattresses from their latest bedding series and new sets of clothing worth RM55,000 to orphanages across the Klang Valley.

YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri lauded the collaboration, stating, “A collaboration like this proves that we all can and should play our respective roles in making a significant impact on society, especially for those in need.”

SOMMNI’s transformation to ‘Mattress in a Box’ brand

SOMMNI, originally focused on providing surplus mattresses at reasonable prices, underwent a strategic shift during the COVID-19 pandemic, emerging as a distinguished ‘Mattress in a Box’ brand. After two years of rigorous research and development, SOMMNI expanded its product range to cater to various segments, including hotels, hostels, and direct consumers.

The collaboration with PONEY emerged from a shared commitment to corporate social responsibility and nurturing children’s growth. Kevin Tan, CEO of SOMMNI, emphasized the importance of ensuring less fortunate children have access to quality bedding, stating, “Our goal is to support their growth so they can grow up to their fullest potential, succeed in life, and contribute back to society.”

Amanda Tan, Head of Merchandising at PONEY Group, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of giving back to the community and leveraging their resources to make a positive impact on society.

Product range expansion

The SOMMNI X PONEY product range includes a baby cot, a children’s bed frame, mattresses, and pillows tailored for different age groups, complemented by bedsheets and pillowcases. With PONEY IOI City Mall being the first to showcase the collection, the partners plan to roll it out across all 42 PONEY outlets in the near future.

Beyond their commitment to social responsibility, SOMMNI and PONEY aim to contribute to the local trade landscape by supporting emerging businesses and fostering a sense of community support for local enterprises.

Looking ahead, SOMMNI reveals an ambitious roadmap for the next five years, aiming to transcend its identity as a bedding brand and establish a formidable presence in the home and living market. With plans for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) within a 10-year timeframe, SOMMNI is poised for sustained growth and expansion.

The collaboration between SOMMNI and PONEY not only showcases their dedication to giving back to society but also signifies their commitment to innovation and growth in Malaysia’s retail landscape.
