Open to all Malaysians over 18, the competition wasn’t just about the loudest laugh. Contestants were judged on a unique set of criteria that went beyond mere amusement:

  • Humility: A champion’s laughter should uplift, not belittle.
  • Joyfulness: Genuine joy is contagious, making laughter even more infectious.
  • Sparkle: A captivating stage presence adds another dimension to the laughter experience.
  • Contagiousness: The ability to spread laughter like wildfire is a key quality.
  • Originality: A unique and creative approach to laughter sets champions apart.

Eight finalists, selected for the laughter videos submitted during registration, faced a series of online challenges designed to test their comedic prowess.

Through three elimination rounds, the competition narrowed down to two finalists: Catherine Lim and Jayamalar.

These champions battled it out with a variety of prompts, including “Your Personal Best Laughter,” “One Animal Laughter,” and “Shy Laughter & In the Playground Laughter.”
