National Museum’s Japanese Cultural Day promises exciting activities

Experience Japanese culture on 1st June 2024 at the National Museum with workshops, demonstrations, and a cosplay competition.

In an exciting celebration of Japanese culture, the Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with the Department of Museums Malaysia, Ministry of National Unity, and the Embassy of Japan, will host the Japanese Cultural Day Programme on 1st June 2024 at the National Museum of Malaysia. This event is organized in conjunction with the ongoing “NINGYŌ: Art and Beauty of Japanese Dolls” Exhibition, offering visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Japanese traditions.

The one-day programme promises a wide array of activities that cater to all age groups, including workshops, demonstrations, and delectable Japanese cuisine. Highlights of the event include children and adult Kendo demonstrations, sushi workshops, kendama demonstrations, and origami workshops. Visitors can also enjoy a Yukata session, offering a chance to experience wearing traditional Japanese attire.

Cosplay Competition by ANIMANGAKI

In a special partnership with ANIMANGAKI, the event will feature a cosplay competition, aiming to bring together Malaysia’s vibrant anime community. Judges for the competition include renowned cosplayers Momo Rex and Kazuki Vinca. Participants and attendees can look forward to a day filled with creativity and cultural exchange.

The “NINGYŌ: Art and Beauty of Japanese Dolls” Exhibition, which continues until 8th July 2024 at the Central Hall of the National Museum, showcases the intricate artistry and cultural significance of Japanese dolls.
