CDC partners with MoF in ambitious tree planting drive

CDC hosted a landmark CSR event at Genting Highlands, championing environmental stewardship with tree planting, workshops, and sustainable initiatives

In a remarkable display of environmental dedication and community involvement, Commerce Dot Com Sdn Bhd (CDC) hosted a landmark Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) event aimed at championing environmental stewardship.

CDC utilised this platform to promote green initiatives and raise awareness on sustainable practices. By engaging participants in diverse eco-friendly activities, the event nurtured a culture of environmental responsibility, resonating with the global theme of World Environmental Day.

CDC Vice President of Corporate Division, Hafidz Ahmad Zehnun said, “Today, we plant not just trees but the seeds of hope and change for a greener, more sustainable future. This event underscores our dedication to combating climate change and preserving our planet’s biodiversity. Our actions today pave the way for a greener, more resilient tomorrow, embodying the spirit of World Environmental Day and our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship.”

“We are proud to lead by example, with CDC’s commitment to sustainability already evident in our office building, Wisma commercedotcom, where we have implemented solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems. These initiatives are just the beginning of our journey towards a more environmentally conscious future,” he added, highlighting CDC’s ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and promote renewable energy solutions.

Supporting National Reforestation

A pivotal moment during the tree planting event was the active engagement in the Government’s nationwide reforestation drive, targeting the planting of 100 million trees by 2025. More than 40 participants planted a substantial number of saplings, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to address climate change and foster biodiversity.

This initiative is a part of the global celebration of World Environment Day 2024, and it underscores CDC’s commitment to environmental sustainability and active community engagement. Our collaboration with the Government Procurement Division (GPD) of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) is driven by a shared vision to instill a sense of environmental responsibility and to make a significant contribution to Malaysia’s national reforestation efforts. By combining our resources and expertise, we aim to create a lasting impact that resonates well beyond the confines of this single event.
