Sun Life Malaysia has launched its InsureLit Roadshow series, a comprehensive initiative designed to bolster financial literacy and promote positive financial behaviours among Malaysians.
The roadshow, spanning key locations across the country, aims to equip participants with essential knowledge about insurance and takaful, empowering them to make informed financial decisions.
The initiative kicked off successfully in Johor Bahru in May and is set to continue its journey, with upcoming stops planned in Penang, Putrajaya, and Selangor.
This series underscores Sun Life Malaysia’s commitment to enhancing financial literacy within communities nationwide.
Interactive learning and engagement
At the heart of the InsureLit Roadshow are interactive activities geared towards enhancing participants’ understanding of financial planning and insurance.
Highlights include the “Insure Hoops” Challenge, encouraging attendees to reevaluate their insurance and takaful needs, and the “Ready, Set, Maze” Challenge, which prompts visitors to prioritise their financial goals effectively.
Visitors can also benefit from personalised financial planning consultations provided by experienced Sun Life advisors.
This individualised guidance aims to align financial strategies with each participant’s unique life goals, fostering a sense of empowerment in managing personal finances.
InsureLit Roadshow for holistic well-being
In addition to financial education, the InsureLit Roadshow places a strong emphasis on holistic well-being. Attendees have access to complimentary health checks including cholesterol, blood glucose, and uric acid tests.
Collaborating with MOG Malaysia, the roadshow also offers free comprehensive eye health screenings, valued at RM100.
These screenings cover a range of conditions from diabetic retinopathy to age-related macular degeneration, ensuring participants receive crucial preventive care.
Following the screenings, participants can further benefit from a complimentary 6-in-1 Vision Eye Care Experience at any MOG outlet nationwide, reinforcing Sun Life Malaysia’s commitment to overall health and wellness.
Insights driving the initiative
Sun Life Malaysia’s recent “Insure or Unsure: Sun Life Insurance Literacy Survey” highlighted significant gaps in public understanding of insurance and takaful products.
Only 28% of surveyed Malaysians expressed confidence in their knowledge of these financial instruments.
Furthermore, findings from the “Asia Financial Resilience Index – Malaysia” indicated that while millennials are the most financially literate generation, their long-term financial planning beyond one year remains inadequate, posing risks to their financial stability.
The InsureLit Roadshow series addresses these gaps by providing accessible, interactive, and informative sessions aimed at improving financial literacy across all demographics.
Through these efforts, Sun Life Malaysia aims to empower Malaysians to take charge of their financial futures responsibly, ensuring they are well-prepared to navigate life’s uncertainties with confidence.
The roadshow not only educates but also encourages proactive financial planning and engagement, fostering a financially resilient society for years to come.
