The K-Street Carnival at Ipoh Parade reached a thrilling climax last Sunday with the highly anticipated finale of the KPop Dance Cover Competition 7.0.
The event showcased a dazzling array of KPop dance routines, captivating the public as 19 teams from Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur battled for the coveted champion title and RM1,500 in cash and prizes.
The competition featured a wide variety of performances, with Aespa’s “Drama” standing out as the most popular song choice.
Four teams selected this track, each bringing their unique twist and dance style to the stage.
Among these, team Remixes garnered particular attention for their rock version of “Drama,” impressing the judges with their creativity, though they did not win an award.
KPop champion: Roserade
The night belonged to Roserade, a dynamic team of seven KPop dance enthusiasts from Kuala Lumpur, aged between 18 and 30.
Their electrifying performance of “Me” by CLC enthralled both the judges and the audience with its high energy and flawless precision.
Every movement was perfectly synchronised with the pulsating music, creating a spectacle where even their hair seemed to dance along.
This impeccable uniformity and vibrant energy secured Roserade the champion title, along with RM1,500 in cash and prizes.
Dreamlab, a talented team of six, claimed the first runner-up position with their powerful and emotive rendition of “Move” by The New Six.
Their expressive body language and potent dance moves left a lasting impression, earning them RM1,000 worth of cash and prizes.
KrabStiXt’s intense and dramatic interpretation of “Save Me, Kill Me” by CIX earned them third place. Their synchronized movements and compelling performance won them RM500 worth of cash and prizes.
A Platform for All Ages
The competition underscored the widespread appeal of the Hallyu wave, particularly among the youth.
The youngest participants, a team of seven to nine-year-olds, demonstrated that KPop’s allure transcends age groups, engaging fans of all generations.
Judges Kayden, Tiffany, and Yi Ling provided valuable feedback and constructive criticism after each performance, offering tips on improving dance techniques, enhancing body language, and better understanding the characters portrayed in the dances.
They remained available for further discussions post-competition, providing guidance and support to the participants.
Lim Huey Tyng, the Advertising & Promotions Manager at Ipoh Parade, expressed her joy at the event’s success.
“The mall is always open to providing a platform for talents to showcase their abilities on an open stage.
The event has been well-received and enjoyed by Ipoh Parade’s shoppers, which is why we have hosted it for seven years.
