The Malaysian International Food & Beverage Trade Fair (MIFB) 2024 opened its doors on July 17, marking the beginning of a transformative three-day event aimed at redefining the future of the food and beverage industry.

This year’s theme, “Elevating the F&B Business; Empowering Innovations; and Enabling Transformation,” underscores MIFB’s dedication to fostering progress, innovation, and sustainability in the F&B sector. Datuk Chan Foong Hin, Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities, officiated the opening and toured the exhibition.

Unveiling MYFoodTech: The Future of Food

A key highlight of MIFB 2024 is the introduction of the MYFoodTech segment, a new platform dedicated to showcasing cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions in the F&B industry. MYFoodTech aims to pioneer the Future of Food by empowering industry professionals with the latest technological advances and services across key segments of the food value chain. This initiative is set to drive the sector forward by equipping stakeholders with essential tools and knowledge.

In its 23rd edition, MIFB 2024 boasts participation from over 350 local and international exhibitors, covering more than 18,000 square meters. The event is expected to draw 20,000 trade visitors from over 80 countries, offering extensive global networking opportunities. Exhibitors include producers of plant-based, dairy-free cheeses, bespoke farming solutions, innovative packaging, private labeling, health food and beverages, and advanced retail systems.

Strategic Conference and Sustainability Initiatives

This year’s event also features the MIFB 2024 Strategic Conference, themed “A Sustainable Future in Food & Beverage.” Over the course of three days, industry experts will discuss critical topics such as F&B supply chain revolution, innovative urban farming, green technology, AI, robotics, financing avenues, and government policies. The conference provides participants with the chance to engage with specialists and explore real-world challenges facing the F&B community.

A significant pledge will be signed between the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and Impiana KLCC Hotel to establish a cooperative relationship with the Humane Society International (HSI). This partnership aims to promote sustainable development and enhance corporate responsibility, specifically focusing on sourcing eggs from cage-free sources by 2030. Additionally, MIFB continues its sustainability journey by collaborating with KLCC to support waste initiatives, including zero food waste and effective event waste management.
