In an effort to help the B40 community in Penang overcome the rising cost of living, 29-year-old entrepreneur Muhamed Helmy Samsudeen has launched One Click Hub, a new app platform aimed at connecting freelancers in the events industry with potential clients.

Officially launched on August 26, the app is designed to provide opportunities for those struggling to find work, particularly graduates from Giatmara Penang and others in the B40 income bracket.

The idea for One Click Hub came to Helmy in early 2024 while organising an event that required photographers, videographers, florists, and more.

He identified a gap in the market and created the app to bridge it, offering a one-stop solution for freelancers and small businesses in the events sector.

Helmy, a professional photographer and founder of Helmy Sam Photography, has already served over 150 clients in Penang since 2020.

With One Click Hub, he hopes to expand that impact by helping others in the freelance industry.

The platform welcomes a wide range of event-related vendors, including photographers, videographers, graphic designers, make-up artists, hairstylists, food caterers, and performers.

“We want to give the B40 community a chance to grow their businesses by connecting them directly with clients,” Helmy explained.

“Our Penang community includes people from all walks of life, and many are from the B40 group. This app is designed to help them find opportunities in the events industry.”

One of the app’s standout features is that there are currently no fees for joining, whether as a vendor or a customer.

Helmy describes it as a B2B concept, where customers are connected directly to the vendors, and the app serves merely as a platform to host these businesses.

“We will vet the vendors to ensure they deliver what is promised to their customers,” he added.

Helmy’s vision extends beyond business. He aims to create a safe and supportive community for freelancers.

“It’s about creating a network where people care for and help each other out. One Click Hub offers a chance to be a catalyst for economic growth and development in Penang,” Helmy said during the app’s launch at Komtar.

“I understand the challenges faced by freelance businesses, especially for youths who are just starting out,” Helmy noted.

“This app is my way of giving back to the community and providing a platform for those who need freelance services to connect with clients at a reasonable price.”

Helmy hopes to achieve 10,000 vendor sign-ups within the first two years of launching One Click Hub.

He believes the platform will not only support freelancers but also contribute to the Penang2030 vision of a smart, thriving state.

Helmy also called on the Penang State Government to continue empowering local youth and helping them digitise their businesses.

One Click Hub is set to officially launch for public use on September 16, 2024, when it will be available for download from the Google Play Store.

Helmy encourages those interested to visit the platform at https://app.oneclickhub.com.my for more information.

With its focus on connecting freelancers to clients and providing opportunities for the B40 community, One Click Hub promises to be a game-changer for Penang’s events industry, offering a way for local talent to shine and grow their businesses.
