Diver Bertrand Rhodict joins MILO as sports ambassador

Diver Bertrand Rhodict joins MILO, balancing Olympic dreams and studies, inspiring young athletes to pursue sports and education with resilience.

Malaysian diving star Bertrand Rhodict Lises, 19, has officially joined MILO’s team of supported athletes, marking a partnership that celebrates his dual commitment to athletic achievement and higher education. The young diver, who hails from Kuching, has not only made a name for himself on the international stage but also represents a new generation of athletes dedicated to excelling both in sports and academics.

Rising Star with a Purpose

Rhodict’s journey in diving began with a strong foundation in swimming, a discipline he started at the young age of four. By ten, he switched to diving, and despite facing challenges with his academics, he persevered, motivated by his father’s encouragement. This decision proved pivotal, setting him on a trajectory that led to prestigious accomplishments, including a bronze medal in the 10m platform synchro at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and a silver at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games. Rhodict’s crowning achievement came when he secured a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics, becoming the first Malaysian diver to qualify on merit.

Reflecting on his journey, Rhodict said, “I am honoured to join the MILO family. Their support is crucial for my diving career and studies. I’m excited to grow as an athlete and person, pushing my limits in competitions and exploring future pathways.”

Balancing the Pool and the Classroom

As he prepares for the upcoming 2025 SEA Games and World Championships, Rhodict is also pursuing a Diploma in Business Administration, embodying MILO’s philosophy of nurturing well-rounded individuals. This dedication to academics alongside his athletic commitments makes Rhodict a role model for young Malaysians, inspiring them to strive for balance and resilience. In addition to his international accolades, he aims to retain his gold at the Malaysian Diving Open Championship this November, where he will compete in both the 10m platform synchro and individual events.

“MILO has always helped me maintain my energy and focus during long school days and training. I hope my journey inspires young athletes to pursue dreams in sports and education, emphasising discipline, resilience, and consistency,” Rhodict added.

His story aligns with MILO’s “Sports Is a Great Teacher” initiative, which advocates for using sports to build character, resilience, and leadership in young individuals.
